Judging by its name, one would think that the most respected organizations when it comes to poker is the World Poker Congress. However, whilst being an important institution, the WPC is in fact only four years old. It was initially created to help the online poker world, but now it has expanded to cover the land games as well. It claims to be the only conference which generates business between land and online poker businesses.

The WPC is due to hold its next meeting of poker professionals on June 24/25th 2009 in Porto, Portugal. One of its keynote speakers is the World Poker Tour CEO Steve Lipscomb who will be leading a discussion entitled “Remaking the Poker Market”. Lipscomb has recently been quoted saying, “the World Poker Congress is simply not like other conferences.
